Support
Nocturne is a small, independently-built app. For anything — a bug, a crash, a feature request, a question about how something works, or a report about content shown in the app — reach out directly:
Common questions
Is Nocturne affiliated with Hacker News or Y Combinator?
No. Nocturne is an independent, unofficial reader for the public Hacker News API. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Y Combinator.
Do I need an account to use Nocturne?
No — there are no accounts anywhere in the app. Browsing, saving stories, saving comments, and reading offline all work without signing in to anything.
What does the $1.99 unlock?
Nocturne Pro is a single, one-time purchase — no subscription. It unlocks the Ask HN / Show HN / Jobs feeds, saving individual comments, offline article reading, and two additional themes (AMOLED and a light Hacker News-styled theme). See the feature table on the home page for the full breakdown.
Can I get a refund?
All purchases go through Apple's App Store, so refunds are handled by Apple directly — see Apple's official refund process.
How do I save a comment, or block someone?
On a comments screen, swipe a comment right to save it (Pro), or swipe left (or long-press anywhere on it) for its actions: save, block, report to support, or view and flag it on Hacker News. Tap a name to fold that branch of the thread.
Where did the sort menu go?
Every feed is now a pill under “Hacker News” at the top of Home — swipe the row sideways to see them all. Ask HN, Show HN, and Jobs are marked PRO.
How do I see the welcome tour again?
Settings → About → Welcome tour. You can also switch haptics off under Settings → Appearance.
I found something objectionable in a comment.
Swipe left on (or long-press) any comment in the app for a "Report to support" action, or email the address above directly with a link to the comment. Nocturne also lets you block a specific user or turn on a local content filter from Settings.
